These professional grade modules directly replace commonly used arcade RAM chips such as 5101, 6514, 6116, and 6264. These modules eliminate the need for a battery and prevent corrosion due to electro-chemical migration caused by having a constant voltage on the PCB (battery).
These all use ferroRAM (non-volatile RAM) chips and all have the proper support components to convert the TTL signals to the proper levels that are required by the CMOS ferroRAM chip. All ferroRAM chips come direct from the manufacturer.
The 5101 and 6264 chips have two chip select pins. To ensure your scores are correctly written and read, the 5101 and 6264 modules contain the proper decoding logic in order to properly decode both of these pins. Competitor modules do not have this feature.
The modules have machined pin headers, so as not to damage or stress IC sockets during insertion. These header pins can also be soldered directly to the PCB if you desire.
All modules are fully tested prior to shipment, including their non-volatile feature.
